Oxygen Hub
A sustainable, resilient oxygen infrastructure for COVID and beyond
We are building Africa’s largest network of oxygen entrepreneurs to address the supply gap in medical oxygen generation and distribution across the continent.
Oxygen Hub is an initiative of the Institute for Transformative Technologies (ITT) focused on expanding access to affordable, life-saving medical oxygen across Sub-Saharan Africa. The venture partners with local entrepreneurs and health institutions to build and operate oxygen production and distribution businesses that serve hospitals and clinics. By combining technology, operational expertise, and blended financing, Oxygen Hub develops sustainable, locally owned oxygen enterprises designed to close the longstanding gap in medical oxygen availability across the region.
Through a decentralized “hub-and-spoke” model, Oxygen Hub establishes oxygen plants and distribution networks anchored around major hospitals while supplying surrounding health facilities with oxygen cylinders. The initiative provides end-to-end support to local partners—including plant design, financing, technical maintenance, and operational standards—ensuring reliable supply and competitive pricing for healthcare providers. Operating in countries such as Ethiopia, Kenya, and Nigeria, Oxygen Hub aims to build a resilient ecosystem of oxygen businesses that strengthen healthcare systems and dramatically improve patient survival from conditions such as pneumonia, COVID-19, and other respiratory illnesses.
